Dynamics NAV is rebranded as Dynamics 365 Business Central

Starting from October 2018 in Romania will be available the new version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV, renamed as Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Dynamics 365 Business Central will be available in the cloud, on-premises and in hybrid deployments. Functionalities will be the same for each deployment option, and if at a certain moment the customer will want to move from on-premises to cloud, this will be possible.

Technologically, the major difference between cloud version and on-premises version is the way the customizations are made. If in the on-premises versions developments can be made both the old way – by modifying the source code of the Dynamics NAV, or through extensions, in the cloud version developments are allowed only through extensions. Extensions are pieces of code added to the application, without any modification to the source code, and that is a major advantage, especially regarding version updates, installment and maintenance. Developments through extensions may be installed and uninstalled similar to the applications for the smartphone.
