Kampen Machinefabriek has improved  efficiency with Dynamics 365 Business Central

Kampen Machinefabriek is a Dutch company working in the oil, gas, and construction drilling market. For about 30 years, it manufactures downhole tools and repairs customers’ existing drilling tools. Kampen Machinefabriek prides with its top-quality customer service and quick response time to customers’ demands and proved to be a consistently successful company.

In recent years, the company’s growth slowed down and a change was needed. One of the decisions meant to make the change happen referred to the replacement of the legacy ERP system. The old system was rigid and non-intuitive for users and coming from a larger group setup, it was not well suited for Kampen Machinefabriek business.

An ERP selection process started, and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central was on top of the possible options. This came as a recommendation from one of the Kampen’s partners, where Microsoft Dynamics software was used with great success. All the arguments went towards this final decision: Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central proved to provide all the required functionality while being easy to implement and maintain, to sustain the anticipated development of the company.

Dynamics 365 Business Central is easy to learn and use ERP software. Nevertheless, the competent business analysis and setup, made by a specialized implementation partner together with the customer, is key to an ERP project’s success. Kepler Management Systems was chosen as the implementation partner, based on recommendations and its proven history in international implementations.

The implementation process was quick and smooth because standard Dynamics 365 Business Central functionalities have been easily mapped on Kampen business, and only minor customizations were needed for some operational documents, such as work order, delivery note or invoice.

The implementation started in January 2020, and the ”Go-Live” was on the first of March 2020. Overall, the whole project took less than 6 weeks. The implementation covered sales, purchases, inventory management and financials, this last one implemented by a Dutch partner.

After the implementation, the benefits started to appear soon. The business processes have been simplified and the general workflow has been improved, the result being increased work efficiency.
