About Dynamics 365 Business Central ERP solution

Dynamics 365 Business Central is an ERP system developed by Microsoft. An ERP system is a business application that encompasses the activities of all departments of a company: finance, purchasing, sales, production, projects, service, etc. Microsoft does not sell this product directly, but through partners, and Kepler is one of them.

Dynamics 365 Business Central is sold worldwide, being available on-premises and in the cloud. It is a strong product supported by Microsoft and a major version of the product appears once every 6 months.

About ERP implementation

The implementation of an ERP system is a complex process, which takes place in several stages. In essence, the client’s business requirements are analyzed – by the implementation consultants and based on them the application is configured. Dynamics 365 Business Central comes with a rich set of features, but each customer has its own specifics and there is always a degree of customization of the application, to adapt to customer needs.

And here comes the role of the developer. Initially, the consultant analyzes with the client, at a business level, the customizations that need to be done. Then he discusses them, on a more technical level, with the developer. The developer writes the code and does a first test, then the consultant also tests, and finally the developments arrive based on the client.

Developments are made in a dedicated language, specific to the platform, because Dynamics 365 Business Central was designed from the beginning to allow customizations. Dynamics 365 Business Central integrates with a wide range of other Microsoft applications (Office 365 – for example) and there is a trend in this regard, the integration of Microsoft products and technologies.

About organization and communication

Within the company we have two main categories of activities: consulting and development. As we have already mentioned, consultants are the ones who talk to the client, analyze his business, configure the application, and provide post-implementation support. Developers mainly talk with the consultants about the developments that need to be made. In principle, the developer does not communicate directly with the customer, except in cases of emergencies.

About the location of the company and working remotely

Our headquarter is on ”Barbu Văcărescu” street (about 10 minutes from ”Ștefan cel Mare” metro station). Before the pandemic, people worked remotely, but rather sporadically. During the emergency, everyone worked from home. Then, when the relaxation came and after an individual consultation, some colleagues chose to stay at home, others came to the office.
